Hi All, I would like to share a solution for "Please restart Windows before installing new programs." during Setup. The setup could be during the first PCS 7 installation or service pack / hotfix upgrade. Every time you press PCS 7 package installation, this warning might pop out asking you to do a restart. Sometimes it resolve the problem, but most of the times not. Siemens has released a solution for this here -> https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/br/en/view/8861819 In Short , when you encounter this issue -> 1. Win+R -> Regedit 2. look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager 3. Delete "PendingFileRenameOperations" (no worry, it will generate again) 4. Then close the regedit and execute the .exe file again. This time you should be able to proceed with installation. ________________ After you successfully installed the extracted packages, remember to delete the temporary files in your temporary location. Step to delete 1. Win+E to open file explorer 2. at the address bar , type " %temp%" 3. At this temporary path, look for the extracted installation file. You may select all to find out the file size. IF the file size is less than 1GB, I think there are nothing huge inside. IF the file size is more than 1GB, you probably has to locate the file with great file size and decide whether to delete it or not to optimize space. 4. For example, I extracted PCS7_V903_UC03.exe. It created a file in %temp% path with the name PCS7_V903_UC03 folder. And this folder is >5gb. After i installed the software, i will delete it manually to save space. Hope this tip is useful for you. |
