Hi Bevan Weiss, As you can read in the manual, ARRAY data blocks do not support retentivity. Kind regards |

What is the reason for this? An ARRAY data block appears to be the same as a standard Global DB, but where the contents is a single array of one given data structure. It seems like it should inherit the retentive capability of a standard Global DB containing an Array member. i.e. it should be possible to select the entire DB as either RETAIN or not. I understand there is a line in the manual for it. But it reads like an Errata. As though this is a bug that should be fixed. But it seems like a simple thing to fix, and yet it hasn't been. |

Hi Bevan Weiss, It's hard to say this is a bug because it's documented as known behavior. Posting this to the forum will be helpful to other forum users, but will have no effect on STEP 7 or PLC developers. To place your request there, please contact your local Siemens sales representative. You can also try to use a support request, but I'm afraid technical support will not accept this as a bug to be escalated to development. Kind regards |
