Obtain the HW address of a specific port

Currently, I find myself in the same situation as you. I have certain library blocks developed to obtain memory addresses from the HW constant (I usually use IFM IO-Link masters). For a particular project, I had to use SM 1278, 4 X IO-LINK MASTER (6ES7 278-4BD32-0XB0) on an S7-1200. Now I have to rethink the functionality of these blocks because I can’t find an HW constant associated with the IO-Link master’s port, only with the entire master. Is there any method to obtain the HW address of a specific port?

Hi,

you know the System constant of the IO-Link Module but there are no constants for eacht port. But with HW-adress of Module and you can use Extended instructions / Adressing. As example RD_ADDR you find out the start adress of the module. In default mode the IO-Link module has a start adress and a length of 7Byte/8Byte for each port...Does this information help you...for Brainstorming...

Thanks for your answer and support. It's an interesting idea.

Starting from an initial memory address, when adding IODDs of different sensors to the IO-Link master, each sensor will have a “relative memory address”. For any change in the sensors, it would be necessary to recalculate offsets or, if the access is directly to the memory address, to modify it. This is why I prefer HW constant access.
