IOT2050 as smb gateway

The reason why we purchased this device is to use it as an smb1 - smb2/3 machine protocol gateway as shown in : https://www.siemens.com/global/en/products/services/digital-enterprise-services/retrofit-modernization-services/machine-protocol-gateway.html and the document MPG_op_instr_1023_en-US.pdf. However this document mentions commands like mpgcred and directory's like /mpgService, however, these are missing. I assume the mpg gateway package itself is missing in the image file. Where can I find the necassary packages (MPG) ? and how to install them ? Thank you !

The MPG is using an comparable hardware but is an independent product with an own software-package: Machine Protocol Gateway is a hardware and software solution that permits communication between the network and machines with different SMB protocols. 2x Gbit Ethernet RJ45; display port; 2x USB 2.0; 16 GB eMMC; 32 GB SD card; 24 V DC industrial power supply more information under https://www.siemens.com/mpg To use your mentioned functionalities you need to buy the Machine Protocol Gateway instead of the IOT2050. The mentioned packages are not available for default IOT2050. The correct product is linked on the MPG Overview and the correct article number is also mentioned in the pdf-instructions. BR

AutoGen_6901521 Joined: 10/13/2025 Last visit: 10/20/2025 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I have the same problem with the Siemens 1P6ES7 647-0BA00-0YA2, but there must be some way to get the MPG image onto this product as well. The hardware is identical, or am I mistaken? I mean, it's just an image that needs to be uploaded, isn't it? Can I get it somewhere?
