May I ask what you think about the recently announced phase out of Simotion D, Scout and Simotion firmware?

As far as I can see, S7-1500 from a raw hardware perspective is now performant enough, but what we lose is the rich and fit-for-purpose Simotion kernel.  

• How is that going to impact you?
• Do you have a migration plan?
• Do you want Siemens or someone else to create software to “Make TIA more like Scout” or to help emulate Simotion kernel functions in a S7-1500 TF CPU?

Building like 100+ machines per year with Simotion, this "news" is a bad news for me.

We knew this since a couple of years and this october it happened.

The automation world is losing its King, the Simotion.

I used Rockwell, Omron, Schneider (formerly ELAU) but none of them can be compared to the King.

The King used to have comples functions for complex things, tons of parameters for the drives, and many nice features for the TOs. Of course it was hard like hell to be learnt.

I will definetly miss two things : 

1 MCC Charts
2 Motion Tasks

Now migrating to CPU-T, but it's not the same thing.
