This is a question you need to ask the people responsible for the products. We volunteers here in the forum will not be able to answer this question. Maybe it has to do with the different application areas. While the S7 PLCs are part of the Siemens Digital Industry portfolio, the KNX is related to the Siemens Smart Infrastructure portfolio.

The Siemens way to get this issue in front of the right people is to talk to your local sales representative. They should know the right people to ask. I know from personal experience that most product owners are not very active on this forum.

Many year have passed, I've seen siemens got TP/IP interfaces but in the application example use an external PROFINET/KNX gateway:

In this example too much devices are involved data import/export, this is no good solution.

I want the simplest way to manage an existing KNX system via an S7-1200.

To manage my logic via PLC.

How could it be possibile that via a simple TP/IP interface a raspberry pi can control a KNX plant and a Siemens PLC could not ?

Any advice is appreciated.

Split from KNX/EIB versus S7-1200 Profinet .

but any S7 controller with ETH interface and OUC capable also does just like Raspberry. You need understand that this kind of HMI device use specific comm protocol (KNX) that most of devices doesn't support, therefore that special Gateway is required. To TCP solution, like also on Raspberry is in this case use of TCP protocol just like S7 also supports, you need program all communication data exchange what is really mess for programmer, you need manage all TAGs between PLC and HMI probably, also some other things like erros as example. Siemens and other HMIs use interfaces with Profinet, Profibus or Modbus protocols where driver is included inside PLC, all is prepared and configuration is easy only via visualisation SW as definition of screens and TAGs, connections. Therefore I think is this solution not used so frequently. Is maybe cheaper solution looks like but that's all. I see no problem to include this type of HW with Siemens controllers but all also depends to used environment and also certification.

it is just ironic that LOGO! have a dedicated module for KNX and S7-1200 nothing.

Anyway I believe home and building are (and should stay) a separate world from industrial automation.

this isn't ironic but with probably wide area of use, with higher capabilities of S7-1200 than LOGO, without doubts. Pls try imagine this, in this case there are many Gateways that can solve simple similar situation you describe. On other side, your mentioned bus system isn't that one what makes priority or change market, it is PN or PB definitelly so this is life. Buildings technology, you know, how life can be easy if some good simple one protocol/system can be used on all HWs, not in this case, everyone want to have benefits on own places and business.

What I need also mention here due your Topic name. Your description isn't correct and describes different areas of usage - Industrial areas and Home/Personal use areas. Try imagine and understand this correctly, then you can easy also understand that your Topic name isn't correct and you mix 2 different things. You can have your opinion but also in this case you need also understand things and problematic.
