No licences can be seen after automatic update of Windows Vista

fix Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi guys, Everything was working fine on my PC until the day when I started Step 7 and the famous message "no licence key found" was displayed. I opened alm to see if there were licences but I only saw the licences of step 7 basic and WinCC Basic. Even if I put a memory stick with licences on it, i cannot see those licences. My configuration is : windows Vista business SP 1 alm 4.0 SP5 (reinstalled) step 7 5.4 SP5 step 7 basic 10 SP2 WinCC 7.0 SP1. I tried to solve the problem using the tips mentionned in different forums : - subdirectory microsoft/crypto/rsa deleted - almdb.mdb deleted - alm deinstalled and reinstalled Nothing helped to see back the licences Can somebody help me please ?

fix Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	if I select the tab "installed software", I see all the software that I installed. I also see that all the soft that uses a floating or a single licence does not recognize the licence key.

I did like you recommended, umencho: i uninstalled all the simatic software, i deleted the registry keys and i tried to delete the s7 files. But, in Windows Vista, some of the S7 files are located in folders that are only available for the system. I don't have any access to those folders. I then reinstalled the automation licence manager only but the problem remains. Note that I installed the SP 2 of Windows Vista and i activated the automatic updates for the OS. As I can see in the compatibility lists, WinCC was not tested with the SP 2 of Vista. So, my recommandation is to use Vista with the SP1 and to deactivate the automatic updates. When some updates are tested by the development of Siemens, then an FAQ lists the tested and recommended updates. You can then install the updates manually. Now, I will format the PC and install the soft according to the compatibility lists. Bye

But after that what - as you already found the last decision is fresh installation of OS. Please inform us if everything is OK after reinstall of software. I hope would be. Thank you in advance, Zoltan Patyi Hello Zoltan Patyi, Look at How can you keep SIMATIC license files working and avoid loss of authorization? and How do you install, uninstall and upgrade authorizations? ZP7010 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Thank you for the advise. Unfortunately I cannot use ALM to transfer the the licenses, because it does not see them. (not only on the hard disk, but also the original USB keys...) I guess, simply copy the .ekb files from directory "AX NF ZZ" to the original USB keys shall not be enough. Is there any chance to connect from an other PC to move the licenses? Doesa remote PC directly read the partners hard disk, or it communicates with ALM on the partner? You could try to connect other computer using Edit->Connect Computer. Finally if you have troubles contact with Siemens Hotline - How can you recover defective licenses and authorizations?
