I completelty agree with Prashanth. In addition, I would like to expand on his example to clarify some of the points in my previous post. Our H systems are a classic example of simultaneous synchronised processing. This is important from process control availability point of view, but not for testing. Hence the PLC SIM does not provide any H station type functionality. It will only simulate the cyclic code execution and emulate H/W resources like timers, counters and I/O. That said, it must also be observed that we need to define a cpu access node whenever simulating any project. This eliminates any logical module addressing ( cpu, cpu etc... not to be confused with I/O modules and IM's). Now consider a case where there are 1 or 2 CP 1613 cards available and we deal with an H System. As prashant said, a switch over of the CP/CPU cannot be tested. also, in this case, the statiion manager would eveluate the diagnostics of the CP's involved and decide on which CP1613 must be used for data communication. all this cannot happen with PLC SIM. |
