611 Infeed module problem

Andy Halls Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I have a problem with an infeed module for a 611 system and it is getting the better of me! Originally the infeed module was found to be faulty, with no DC output. A replacement module was fitted (not brand new but repaired) and this would power up OK, but the DC voltage was falling off to the point that the yellow LED goes out briefly and then the internal relay pulls in again to restore 600V DC. This will continue to do this. A futher infeed module was fitted and it performed in the same way. The DC bars to the rest of the rack were disconnected, as well as the ribbon cable, and still the DC was folding. I then found another infeed module, so I powered this up on a bench with just 9, 112 & 48 linked (to start up the DC), as well as NS1 & NS2, and the 1W1/2W1, 1V1/2V1 & 1U1/2U1 links. The DC sat at 600V and held it constantly. I wired this infeed module into the machine and it started cycling the DC as the others had. Removed all DC links, ribbon, control wiring, linked the DC start signals as I had before and still the same. So, just to be sure I didn't imagine it, with just 9-112-48 linked, and NS1-NS2 linked, and 1W1/2W1, 1V1/2V1 & 1W1/2W1 linked, no load on the DC rail, should I see a constant 600V DC? If the voltage is folding with no load, I'm assuming that's a sign of internal damage? I'm starting to think one of the LT modules in the rack could be faulty and is damaging the infeed module. I have measured resistance across the DC connections on each and have around 5-700K on each, capacitance is about the same on each also, although I understand they could be causing a problem under load. Has anyone seen this before, that could offer some suggestions?

I removed the U/E module from the machine, setup on a bench again with just 9-112-48 linked, NS1-NS2 linked, and 1U1/2U1, 1V1/2V1, 1W1/2W1 linked, iniially the DC was folding. I linked 63 & 64 to 9, then the DC held constant at 600V. I then tried two more times just powering up with the initial links (no enable links) and still the 600V held fine. I took it back to the machine, powered up with exactly the same links in as I had used on the bench. In the machine it folds, gets to around 580V then decays back to the point that the internal relay clicks off/on then it ramps back to 580V and decays again. The only difference here is the 3 phase supply is from a different bus bar, and the u/e module is mounted to a chassis plate, as opposed to laying on it's back on a bench in the workshop. I removed the infeed filter in case that was effecting it, still the same. The only difference that is obvious between supplies is that I have 425V between phases in the workshop, on the machine I have 412, 412 & 416V between phases. However, with S1.1 off 400V +/- 10% is spec for infeed voltage - right? I am at a bit of a loss with this!! I will read the information you linked to - thanks.

Andy Halls Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I had actually read through that thread last night, although it seems as though the original poster didn't come to a resolution? If 600V DC should be present with the links made as mentioned, and with the DC voltage folding not being a sign of u/e internal damage, why would the voltage be folding? I'm not sure if you were asking what the control system was for this machine? It is an 840C system. However, as I mentioned, I have removed all control wiring from the u/e module to eliminate any external issues.
