Hello MRG, Please see following thread with similar discusion. S7300 PLC with S7400H PLC S7-400H CPU and S7-300 Some useful FAQ to understand use of DP-DP Coupler Configuration of the I/O Data on DP/DP Coupler Mixed mode on the DP/DP coupler Behavior of the DP/DP coupler when a master system fails What are the special features of input/output addressing with the DP/DP coupler? Hope this helps. |

Hello Amit_86 Thank you for your reply Before this in some of my projects, I use DP/DP Coupler to communicate between two DP masters, also Y-Link for connecting to VFDs & etc. But up to now, I have never used both of these devices with together. I know, we can’t use Y-Link to Communicate between S7-400H and touch panels or we can’t use Y-Link to Communicate between S7-400H and ET-200M (6ES7 153-1AA03-0XB0) and etc. What about DP/DP Coupler? Is it compatible with Y-Link or not? (I mean DP/DP Coupler NOT DP/PA Coupler) Is there any documents to see clearly this items? What do you think about this Document? Please review chapter 8 (Page 48 of 52) "DP Slaves You Can Use" |

Hello Amit Thanks again for you reply In this thread (S7300 PLC with S7400H PLC) (your above link) There are another things?!! about two years ago, you and dchartier have some discussion about Y-Link and DP/DP Coupler. He said: "you can use a DP/DP coupler (connected to the S7-300 CPU's DP master port) as a slave on the y-Link." and You said: "i have gone through above post & it is mentioned that for Communication between S7400H & S7300 on Profibus considering both PLC as master, i have to choose Ylink on S7400H,DP-DP Coupler in Between & Dp coupler will be connected to YLINK & S7300 PLC." So, I don't underestand which one is True? |

Hello MRG; Basically, a DP/DP coupler issingle module witha pair of DP-slaves (2 interfaces) that each connect to a seperate DP-master bus. They have built-in logic that transfers data from slave interface 1 to slave interface 2, if they are configured properly, so that data wrtitten to slave interface 1 from master 1 can be read by master 2 reading the slave interface 2 (and vice-versa). See the attached illustration, taken from the DP/DP Coupler manual. The Y-linkacts as a DP-master onthe downstreamProfibus-DP bus (while the pair ofIM 153-2 of the Y-Link act as dual slaves to the S7-400H system), and the S7-315-2DP also acts as a master on its bus. so there is absolutely no reason for this configuration not to work. And as you say, in the links provided earlier thereis at least onetestimonial stating that the configuration has been implemented. Another possibleoption of course would be to add a CP 342-5 to the S7-315-2DP's rack, to introduce a slave interface to the S7-300 without changing the master interface operations, thus allowing the S7-300 to act as a slave behind the Y-Link: How do you configure an S7-300 CPU or a CP342-5 as DP slave to an S7-400H as DP master using a Y-link? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello MRG; The DP/DP coupler looks good. Keep us informed on the tests you will do. Regards, Daniel Chartier |
