RS485 Radio Modem

HuoLong Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	Use of PPI communication trough radio modems WITH PLC is IMPOSSIBLE due the fixed protocol timeouts. This would require a full intelligent modem which could act as PPI device and buffer the telegramm and send a return/status message to the originator. Even with REGULAR MODEM this is IMPOSSIBLE. Only MicroWin is capable to do this since it could wait as long it wants. I don`t understand why people always try this again. So don`t waste additional time on this. The solution is to use the Modbus library. They also offer the ability to increase the delay time.

suri Posts: 23 Rating: (1)	@essam: i do not contradict HuoLong, as I never tried to make such connection. what i can see on the pages you attached here is that your modem requires power supply. my question is: did you made the necessary connections in order to power up your modem (through front power connector or through an custom-modified DB9 male connector - pins 9 and 5) or you are using a serial PC/PPI cable from Siemens, expecting that the modem to take the power supply from this cable?
