CPU414H Firmware issue

Import-User-1 Posts: 3609 Rating: (29)	Import of a Technical Question of the User NuTriStAr NuTriStAr I have an existing 6ES7 414-4HJ04-0AB0 firmware V4.0.7 redundant system. When 1 CPU fails I ordered a CPU but with a different firmware version V4.0.12. Is it possible to downgrade the V4.0.12 CPU to V4.0.7? Is it possible also to upgrade V4.0.7 to V4.0.12? We dont want our boiler system to shutdown please advice if downgrade is possible. Thank you.

Your older CPU can also be upgraded, but then your CPU will stop. You find the Upgrades here: Operating System Updates: CPU412-3H / CPU414-4H / CPU414-4H PG / CPU417-4H and CPU412-5H PN/DP, CPU414-5H PN/DP, CPU416-5H PN/DP, CPU417-5H PN/DP I would downgrade the 2nd CPU and when you can stop the plant upgrade both. Information on Parts Replacement If the system is to be operated with the previous firmware version, the newly acquired CPU has to be downgraded to the firmware version of the CPU still running. This can either be accomplishedvia a memory card (as with V4.0.x) or via theonline functionality(see manual). Up toFirmware V4.0.x In an S7-400H system, both CPUs must have the same firmware version. If one CPU of your S7-400H fails, order a new CPU with exactly the same order number. It will be delivered with the latest firmware version. Further action depends on whether the system must continue to run without interruption or whether it can be stopped briefly. If stopping the system is not permissible, then the newly obtained CPU must be downgraded to the firmware version of the CPU still running. In that case, proceed as follows: Create an operating system update card containing the firmware version of the failed CPU Use this card to transfer the firmware version of the failed CPU to the new CPU Both CPUs now have the original firmware version;your S7-400H can now be switchedto the redundant operating mode If an overall stop of the system can be tolerated,the existing CPU can be updated to the latest version by stopping the system. I dont know what it means but do you have any other links to get the V4.0.7 OS firmware update. Please see attachment for the error that appeared when clicking the file.
