How to edit FC block

KRS2008104567 Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	Hello Guys! I am going to modify/add syntax (STL)of a FC block. Procedure: 1. Connect to Siemens S7 300 PLC. 2. Upload program and save file for backup. 3. Turn PLC Offline. 4. Select FC80 and do my modification. (COnsidering there are no errors.) I will just simply Ctrl+S or simply save it 5. Will turn the PLC in Online mode and download the program I edited. Is my procedure correct and complete or did I missed something? Hope for your immediate response. Thanks and Regards,

When only changing 1 block code you have only to download this block. If you however change also the block interface, you need to change the block call( s) too. Regards, Marcjan

KRS2008104567 Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	Hi thank you for the quik reply. Please see attached file for reference regarding the modification I am planning to do. I will add syntax in FC80 (to be added syntax boxed in red). The data is already defined in a DB as seen in the top most image. So what you are suggesting is that: 1. I connect to the PLC 2. I open a saved backup program in which I already did the editing for FC80. 3. Select FC80 block and download it. 4. Select FC80 block and initialize it. (not sure with this step) 5. Restart the PLC. Step 4: FC's do not have a memory outside the FC, initalisation (if needed)must be done in the FC, that means write to a (temp)variable before reading it. Step 5: in most cases not needed.
