Also if you know where i can read in documentation, please ... With respect, light

dchartier Grandmaster Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/18/2024 Posts: 12296 Rating: (2691)	Hello light; K means a constant, the next letter specifies the foprmat of this constant: KM for a binary pattern (16 digits) KY for two absolute numbers, one byte each, each in the range from 0 to 255 KH for a hexadecimal pattern (maximum 4 digits) KS for a character (maximum 2 alphanumeric characters) KT for a time (BCD-coded time) with time base 1.0 to 999.3 KC for a count (BCD-coded) 0 to 999 KF for a fixed-point number in the range from -32768 to +32767 So a KY 125,1 value sends 2 bytes simultaneoulsy (in one word value); this is often used for comm processors, for example, to specify 2 parameters at once, node address and channel number for example). Manuals for the S5 are given for each processor family. They are all available on the Siemens support webpages, search for your CPU model. For example, pdf manual for the S5-100U is 6ES5 998-0UB23.pdf PDF manual for the S5-115U fanily is 6ES5 998-0UF23.pdf etc... Each of these manuals has a section onStep 5, as it applies to this family (different instructions, specialized blocks, etc...) Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

This code reminds me of a sinec L1 configuration that we used in a S5-95U. You are writing certain values to registers in a DB (the C DBxx at the beginning of segment 2 opens this particular DB for the following Load/Transfer operations), but unless we understand what is controlled at these locations, it will be difficullt to help you mors. Prtofibus-DP reserves address 127 for broadcast (from a master to all connected slaves) and for multicast (master to a specified group of slaves). The slaves do not answer when recieving indata on address 127. There is not much information on broadcast for the S5 CPUs. Here is an extract from a manual on the Profibus interface of the S5-95U: Prerequisites for multicasting: • You must assign the same receive SAP in the DB1s of all receiving stations ( section 8.3). • You must enter the global address for multicasting "127" in byte 6 of the request header. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1091429 Here is a link that explains how it can be used in S7 PLCs: the connection s via FDL, and can only be implemented through Profibus CPs: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/20987711 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
