Hello yourIM 153-2 (6ES7 153-2BA82-0XB0) can also be used on a single (non redundant) Profibus Network (all IM153's can, only some also additionally support usage on a redundant Profibus Network) . To create a full DP/PA link, you will however alsoneed at least oneIM157 DP/PA coupler and the FAQ below has all the details on this: How is the DP/PA link structured? I hope this helps |

both is possible, but it depends on what you want to do/achieve dear GOWDA. Have a look at the links below which contain the information you are after: What must you watch out for when connecting PROFIBUS PA devices to the PROFIBUS DP? How do you configure a PROFIBUS PA network in STEP 7? Personally, I prefer the DP/PA link solution and am NOTa fan of connecting a DP/PA coupler directly to a DP Network (as your seriously limit your DP speed to 45.45 kbps in that case). I suggest you alsostudy the manual below which contains additional useful information, technical spec's and part numbers: SIMATIC Bus links DP/PA coupler, active field distributors, DP/PA Link and Y Link manual I hope this helps |

Hello Gowda; Since you have already a Profibus-DP netwok set at 1,5 MB, you will need a DP/PA link to be able to connect to a PA segment while maintaining the 1,5 MB data rate on the DP side. Have a look at the Siemens Industry Mall page refering to the latestPA components: https://eb.automation.siemens.com/goos/catalog/Pages/ProductData.aspx?nodeid=10043983&catalogRegion=WW&language=en®ionUrl=/#topAnch and the following manual will discuss the required components for a DP/PA link: SIMATIC Bus links DP/PA coupler, active field distributors, DP/PA Link and Y Link (Edit: sorry to Fritz, I am pointing to the same manual you proposed earleir. Not very efficient.) In the Apendix of the manual (A2) you will find a list of part numbersavailable to build the DP/PA link. You will seethe part numbers required to builda DP/PA link; you will need a IM 153-2 (6ES7 153-2BB02-0XB0) and a coupler FDC 157-0, one for up to 31 PA instruments (6ES7 157-0AD82-0XA0); a mounting rail would also be required tohold the modules, and you will need to power the devices, either with a local power supply on the rack, of from a 24 V source (possibly from ther PLC rack, depending on the distance). The Profibus-PA cable (from Siemens) that you will need is part number 6XV1830-5EH10, and yoiu can find technical information on it here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/4094255 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
