Bill Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	How do I set a specific bit in a double word when I only have an integer that points to the bit position? I'm working on making my code more modular. I want to create a FB that governs alarm raising. I don't want alarm bits to be global memory bits. I want them to be static memory bits local to the instancing data block of the FB. I want to be able to call the FB from anywhere in the program, and simply specify (in integer form) which alarm is to be raised (0 to 32 since I only want to maintain one double word of alarm bits in the static memory area). So I want to be able to do this: CALL FB100 // my alarm handling routine Alarm_Number := 12 // raises alarm # 12, thus bit 12 of a double word and have the instancing DB for FB100 remember that alarm 12 is set. Calling the FB with an Alarm_Number of 0 should reset the current alarms. Calling the FB with a negative value should reset only the specified alarm bit. CALL FB100 // my alarm handling routine Alarm_Number := -12 // clears alarm flag #12 I have been playing with this all day (trying different ways to accomplish this) and I have come up with a few ways, but none of them seem elegant. I was hoping some of you experts could help me out?
