WinCC/PCS7 problem with valve symbol

this is not really a Problem. From PCS7 V8.0 on the symbols for valves work like this. There are different symbols for open=horizontal and close=horizontal available in the @PCS7Typicals_APLV8x

If you want symbols not changing the Position either use symbols from the @PCS7Typicals_APLV7x or create you own ones.

In PCS 7 V8.2 you can select which behavior you want.

In the other versions you have to customize @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8.

Dissolve the grouping of the valve symbol and exchange the small symbols, which are lie on top of each other.

at first please tell us what your version of PCS7 is. If it is V8.2, maybe Thunderstorm could tell us how to set the wanted behavoir in that version. I don't know because I'm still on V8.0. Also please check if @PCS7TypicalsAPLV7 is in your OS-Project (open WinCC Explorer and mark Graphics Designer).

Ok. So there are different ways to use the icons from the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV7. Choose either option 1 or 2:

1. Simply just delete the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8 in your project. You must know that the system can process up to 10 different templates. All must have the name @PCS7TypicalsXyz, where Xyz can be anything and is not limited to 3 characters. They are processed in alpha-numerical order. So if there is a type (the same number of property "Type") in different templates, the one from the last processed template will be generated in your user pictures. Actually you have an @PCS7TypicalsAPLV7 and @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8 ... guess why the icons are taken from the ...APLV8-template... When deleting the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8 they will be generated from the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV7. But there is something more to consider: When ever you let the 'OS Project Editor' run the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8 will be added to your project again. If you forget to delete it again and you perform 'create/update block icons' or you make an OS Compilation, all your icons are replaced by the one from @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8. If you want to avoid that the OS Project Editor will add the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8, go to the following path and delete it from installation, too: C:\Program Files (x86)\SIEMENS\WINCC\Options\PDL\APL. But when installing a service pack it may be that the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV8 is added again to this path.
   
2. Open the @PCS7TypicalsAPLV7 and perform a 'Save as...'. Give a name you like (beginning with @PCS7Typicals), in e.g. @PCS7TypicalsMyIcons. Go the properties of each object and find the property "type". Assign a new number for each object wich is definitely not used by an icon in a template delivered with PCS7. In e.g. use numbers starting from 100. Go to your blocks in CFC and assign the new numbers there, too. The advantage of going this way is that you don't need to think about to delete anything. Not now and not in future. Also nothing to repeat if the project is edited on a different engineering station. Your template-file '@PCS7TypicalsMyIcons' always comes with your project.

Of course you could use the 2nd way also with the lates version of the template file (@PCS7TypicalsAPLV8 or @PCS7TypicalsAPLV81 ? ). Then you would have to replace the pictures in the objects (horizontal/vertical valve) like Thunderstorm mentioned. Advantage would be that you work at least with latest icons. Honestly said, combining my 2nd way with Thunderstorm's proposal is what I'm doing for my projects.
