Hello nanchi; Here are basic documents you can use for Profibus-DP configuration; since you do not mention the programming software you are planning to use, check out the contents of both: Chapter 3 in this document: Configuring Hardware and Communication Connections STEP 7 V5.4 Exercise 3 in this tutorial (for TIA Portal and Profibus-DP: If you want help to synchronie the motors you have on Profibus-DP, we need to lnow a bit more: what motors and what drives you are using, and détails of the application. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello nanchi; First thing you have to do is make sure the drives are set up properly to control the drives, manually (from the keypad). Test that setup. Next you have to configure the drives to accept a command and setpoint from the fieldbus (Profibus-DP in your case). Look up the parameters of the drive for such an operation. The following step is to configure the drive as a DP-slave in the Profibus configuration of the master PLC. You must have the gsd file of each drive downloaded to your programming PC, in a location you can easily find. You must then integrate the gsd files n your programming software. The links in the preceding post should help to do that, for Step 7 v5.5 or tIA Portal (you still do not tell us which you are using). For further details you can look up "gsd file" in the online help, and look for installation steps. When you have the gsd installed you can drag and drop one (or more) 590+ or 690+ drive to your Profibus configuration; you have to implement the number of bytes needed to exchange data between the master and the slave drives, that information is in the Profibus manual for each drive. Some information is available here: http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=89746 Eurotherm Profibus-DP Communications Interface As far as synchronizing the drives over Profibus, I find little information on the Parker sites. Please contact them to see if it can be done and how to proceed. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
