Hi, This is a topic for discussion, but primary its a question to Siemens if you have plans for supporting a IOT software update platform in any way. I have checked a little bit, and Mender.io seems like a good free open source solution for this. Is there any chance Siemens can provide support for the IOT2000 as a device in meta-mender/mender.io? https://mender.io/product/board-support https://github.com/mendersoftware/meta-mender Any company that is planning to use iot2000 as a platform with a lot of devices I think would find such solution compelling. The question is how far Siemens is to strech in supporting solutions around the device, or just delivering a working device only, and leave the rest to the customer. Any answer will be welcome:) Best Regards Benjamin Krüger |

As you can see in https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2000/issues/39, it's on the to-do list. There are running custom deployments using EFI boot guard and swupdate on the device and either so far only manual deployment of updates & execution of swupdate or via HawkBit in the backend. Apparently, mender supports (or is working on) a swupdate plugin as well, so this would be the way to go for the IOT2000 when using their service. But we haven't looked into mendor.io in details recently. |
