Step7: Diagnositcs on a ET200SP module

Dear all,

I am using a 414-5 H PN/DP (redundant) CPU to which a few ET200SP modules are attached.

I have two questions.

1) [snip] ...

2) I am looking for a diagnostic function (in Step 7, STL) that gives me the (diagnostic) state of a channel (the red marked component on the attached image). A function that gives me the exact address of such a red component in case it encounters something like a wire break or another error.
I tried experimenting with calling the SFB54 in OB82, but i can't seem to find applicable data/information from this SFB, except for the module address (green marked on image [called by #OB82_MDL_ADDR]).

Is there someone that would want to help me with this issue?

Regarding this issue, I suggest the following:

1. For the modules which support this functionality, you can select the value status option in hardware configuration (address tab). This will create an area in the input process image, where every bit is the status of a channel (ON = good). Be aware that some module have just a cumulative alarm, therefore if a channel becomes faulty, a fault is reported for all channels - check module documentation.

2. In general, for analog input modules, I suggest to create your own check, scaling the raw count to V, mV, mA etc, and defining the alarm threshold as a parameter in your scaling function. This way, you can use this feature even with other I/O families which do not support value status.

Regarding your first point (1). I'm wondering; what is the difference between an off signal (not triggering the wire brake by adding the right resistance) and an on signal? Or can in find this on another address?

 Each input module you activate the value status, will have two input areas: one for the input status (related to your inputs, as usual), one for the value status (ON = OK; OFF = FAULT).

However, i can't seem to find two different addresses as can be seen on the attached image.
If i read out IB 13 i get a functional byte, IB 14 stays 00000000 no matter what happens. So which addresses are used for this (for the diagnostic values [on=good, off = faulty] and the actual values [on= I/O on, Off= I/O off])? The manual is unclear about this.

It might be a good moment to state that i just started programming (in Step 7) so i might not have all the knowledge to see true "easy fixes". Apologies for asking so much.

I have read up on the manuals about the modules and they do have access to this feature. I'm working with DI8 x 24VDC HF V2.0  6ES7 131-6BF00-0CA0 module.

In the parameters tab, for every channel you must enable the diagnostic feature you need (wire break, short circuit to M or to ground.

First byte is input status, second byte is value status byte.
