Hello, I am a trainee working on a S7-300 PLC. I am trying to connect this PLC to my computer. I am using the software TIA V13. I connected the cable to the MPI outlet. But I was given the cable that you can see on the attached picture and I am not sure that it can work with it. Can you help me and tell me if I need another cable or if this one is ok? I am a beginner in automation so thank you for any help :) Regards ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hello simon; At first glance I would think that this afdapter would not let you program a S7-300 CPU. The programming port is MPI, you need more than a serial converter to connect to it, you also need a protocol converter from USB to MPI with a RS-485 port. Can you provide us with a make and model, or more information on this adapter cable? These days Siemens proposes a CP 5711 as a USB PC Adapter (6GK1 571-0BA00-0AA0) as an interface to a S7-300 MPI port https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/68849363 Older models such as the 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0 are available only as spare parts, but can still be used if you find one hanging around: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/16983464 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
