611D Drives with 840 SL

mjrv Bronze Member Joined: 7/4/2014 Last visit: 8/9/2024 Posts: 283 Rating: (0)	Dear Experts Vertical axis suddenly dropped down completely in one of our HMCs Checked brake voltage found to be 21.4 V, corrected same to get around 24V, still axis did not move Decoupled motor with ballscrew, Replaced LT Module - still we were not able to move the motor Replaced Motor with new one - still we had a problem Finally replaced Power cable then axis started moving - further observed that at the power connector of the cable in the motor side, one pin had come out Hence we feel it was only power cable which was giving problem and LT and Motor were alright as Insulation resistance, winding resistance, Brake resistance etc were found alright Please let us know even in case of problem in power cable, why the axis came down alarmingly - could there be any other way of preventing such issues in case of failure of Power cables Regards

It works with 611D. Since there is problem in power cable, when vertical axis is enabled, the axis servo loop is put into operation & motor is supposed to hold axis in position. But because power was not delivered to motor, (becuase of cable problem,) axis didnot hold at position & axis droped down due to gravitaional force. But I surprised, why the drive or controller did not pop up alarm / fault of motor overcurrent, or drive fault or motor stanstill position etc.etc. Please check NC data & PLC logic once again. HTH.

nulizhang Platinum Expert Joined: 10/17/2007 Last visit: 11/15/2024 Posts: 4074 Rating: (357)	If you want to gather the experience for the future , you need find out which pin is going out in power cable connector--It is on the motor side --right? standard Siemens power cable connector should be female 6 holes. U-V-W and grounding, plus (option) Brake+, Brake-.. from your post seems you have one of phase pin lost --if that is true you motor will 100% not moving and will giving alarm when drive all enable signals (HW and PLC interface) ready. --that means servo motor missing phase. to prevent motor (axis drop ) for vertical axis --that is the task for machine builder --their PLC program should be condition for release brakes (not only motor brake but also other clamping device)--they should program--when system error happen making brake applied and clamping not release.
