s7-200 as modbus slave!

Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody I'm using modbus library for s7-200-microwin.I've downloaded the slave program(mbus-init and mbus-slave)on plc and have run it but the error output of mbus-init has the error code 5(Holding registers overlap Modbus Slave symbols) and so the error output of mbus-slave has the error code 10(Slave function not enabled).when I separate holding registers from slave symbols the error output of mbus-init would have the error code 1(Memory range error) and the error output of mbus-slave would remain 10.can anybody guide me what to do? thanks Shahed

dchartier Grandmaster Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/10/2024 Posts: 12293 Rating: (2691)	Hello sh.m; This is what the S7-200 System manual has to say about addressing in the Mbus_Init function: Configuring the Symbol TableAfter you enter an address for the first symbol, the table automatically calculates and assigns the remainder of the symbols in the table. You should assign a starting V location for the table which occupies 779 bytes. Be sure that the assignment of the Modbus Slave symbols do not overlap with the V memory assigned to the Modbus holding registers with the HoldStart and MaxHold parameters on the MBUS_INIT instruction. If there is any overlap of the memory areas, the MBUS_INIT instruction returns an error. It might be useful if you give us a screencapture of your Mbus_Init block, and a view of the symbols that you use in the V-memory (especially around the adresses you have setup). For debugging purposes, try the modbus functions (only) in a new program so that you can isolate the problem.

Galen Advanced Member Joined: 10/1/2008 Last visit: 2/5/2024 Posts: 21 Rating: (7)	You are getting a 1 as the error code which is a "Memory range error".This is not cause by amemory overlap error. It is caused a memory area being assigned that the CPU does not support. In this case, you are assigning 32 to the MaxAI parameter but the 222 CPU that you are using only support 16 analog inputs. Change this value to 16 to correct the problem.
