Change a 6GK7 443-1EX11-0XE0 by 6GK7443-1EX30-0XE0

Compared to the other modules you were asking for earlier today (and now you should know how to get the information you are looking for, this is a bit more complicated.

The 6GK7443-1EX30-0XE0 is a second-degree successor module for your 6GK7443-1EX11-0XE0. See the screenshot below.

This means that since 2009 (the year the 443-1EX11 was cancelled) there have been 2 generations of CP 443-1 processors, each with increasing functionalities. The original module did not work with Profinet, for example.

In such a case, the newer module could still work in the old project without hardware modifications, if you can test 2 aspects of the upgrade: can the version of CPU you will be using connevt to a 443-1EX30 at all (firmware revisons might be an answer there) and make sure that the functionalities you need for the project are strictly in the scope of the orignal module.

Siemens has developped a Compatibility Tool that will tell you if the different modules (in their different versions) can be used together.

Nothing in a PLC configuration is actually plug and play; I have explained the general rules that apply to replacing a module by its successor (without modifying the hardware configuration). Outside of that specific situation all elements must be adequately parameterized, if they are compatible.
