Not able to open .ap15 file

Hi All,

I have a file which is .ap15. I tired to open it with WinCC but unable to do so. I've received an error message which is "The file MDR_Stinger_30_08 V15.ap15 is not a recognizable format."

Can anyone advise me on methods to open the file?

You can't open a TIA V15 file with WinCC flexible.

 Noted, I'll just have to wait for the upgrade then.

The answers you have gotten in this thread point to the fact that you need WinCC (TIA Portal) v.15 to open the HMI program contained in the .ap15 file.

Are you trying to do so with WinCC Flexible? What software and which version are you using actually?

You have already been told that there are no upgrades from WinCC Flexible to WinCC v.15. WinCC v15 must be purchased and licensed individually. What exactly were you expecting as an upgrade?

What is available is a trial download of WinCC v15, with a temporary license valid for 14 days. Once installed, it would allow you to open and manipulate the .ap15 file you have. But eventually the trial license must be upgraded to a permanent license of the level you need (WinCC Basic, Comfort, Advanced or Professional).

 My apology, I meant upgrade by purchasing license for Simatic WinCC v15 along with TIA Portal V15. Or do I just need the WinCC V15 without the TIA Portal V15?

Currently I'm using Simatic WinCC flexible 2008 SP3 (build: V1.4.0.0_1.16.0.16.

there is no WinCC V15 without TIA portal. TIA portal can contain WinCC and/or Step 7.
