What is the purpose of dip switch Delayed & Undelayed in 3SK1211-1BB40 Extension modules?

This dipswitch is used to distinguish between an instantaneous output (as trigger to an outside equipment) or a delayed output.

See this citation:

Equipment Manual - SIRIUS 3SK1 safety relays - Industry Support

On the 3SK121 output expansions, a slide switch on the device front must be used to set whether the UNDELAYED, or DELAYED output signal of the basic unit is to trigger a response. If a purely  instantaneous 3SK112 basic unit is used, the slide switch MUST be set to the "UNDELAYED" position.

I referred to the manual which you specified above. In that manual also they have not mentioned the purpose of Delayed & Undelayed dip switch. 

If possible can you give anyone example with an application for delayed & undelayed?

One more question:

I am using 3SK2122-1AA10 safety relay module is it necessary to program with ES software?

or only by hardwiring we can use this module?
