Home Automation, Simulation works, in reality has a bug.

Hi there, I am doing new electro wiring in my house and for light automation, I chose Logo 8. I have created a simple program, and in the simulation, it works without problem, in reality, it has a bug, how to find out where it is? Does Logo has any kind of debug mode?

The particular logic with a bug works as following:

We have a situation when one kid wants to drink water during the night and afraid to go over the hallway to the kitchen and wants to have the whole way with light ON. In his way, we have a hallway light that is switched all night and it is located in front of the Restroom and Children room. The kid just presses the button for hallway light for 2 second and the light in the hallway and kitchen gets automatically ON. the kid goes and drinks water, comes back and one time press the button in the Children room, the light in Kitchen and Hallway should go off, hallway light still stays on and the children's room light keeps the status in which it was before pressing the button. Thus it keeps the state In case Kitchen and Hallway and Hallway lights were ON at the same time, if one of them was off, then it just controls the lights in the children's room. In Simulation it works without problem, in real-world the light in Children Room also changes the status despite the condition of others.

Does logo have any kind of debug mode where it can save in log all I/O signals for 1 minute of work? or any other debugging possibility? I attached the Program for your review, maybe you will find a bug just by looking at it :).

Dear Sir, there is a button call ONLINE TEST. Locate right side of SIMULATION button.

You can track and test or debug on the real SIMULATION.

thank you for your reply, yes, this works with a bug but does not give me any kind of information why...

for example in development IDE present debug mode when the program is running step by step and you can see what is next and why, here it just shows the same what is going in hardware. Can we at least sow down the CPU speed to for example 20ms per cycle? then we will be able to see how signal from the button goes block by block and can understand which block has a bug.

Currently, I see only in program momentary "jump" of the button, two light OFF, and Light in kids room is ON...

If….

Your programm works well in simulationmode, AND you can dowload the programm to the LOGO, then it must be good. There is no bug ore something els. It works.

Only if you have mistakes with the wires on the logo...…..

Maybe the impulse former for the children button makes problems together with the blocks behind. If i have understand correct, then the program in attachment can solve your problem. I have changed the diagram layout a little and deleted the impulse former.

Started with all lights off i have tested as follows:
1. I9 lights up children room
2. I2 for more than 1.5s turns on kitchen, hallway and hallway light
3. children goes to kitchen and back
4. I9 switch off all lights

All other functions are the same as before, i think, also the bedroom all off modus. Now try it out.

Use on, off or on/off delay to avoid chatter of contacts. The combinated on/off delay e.g. with 0.1s on and 0.1s off delay may help. You can use it directly behind all inputs, if chatter is possible.

To check more specific you only can use little tools in the program, there is nothing to reduce speed or other debug modes.

1. Find chatter with a counter in the programm, insert counter value in a message. If you have only 1 push and the counter increases by 5-10, then you have a problem. Try out this with additional on/off delay to find the lowest time, which solves the problem.

2. Logo 8 have a datalog function to record digital and analog values you want, but the shortest interval time is 0.5s. See online help of this block for more information.

Remote diagnostics are very difficult, i need a direct feedback during a test to determine the next step.

sorry have not seen your first message with new scatch, I tried it, it works but not in the way I wanted :).

in the scatch you did, the kids still can sleep well if another goes in the kitchen but if they needed light it will be switched off... In my, I wanted to realize the "Kepp state" condition when the other 3 lights are on.

I will play with on/off delays and counter, maybe will find where the bug lives :)
