I have addition to this but mine is with optimized DB's. Siemens states you can turn on and off retain area with an optimized DB. That doesn't seem to apply when you call a UDT in your DB. It's an all or none again. Only reason i can think is because Siemens considers it a structure. This is defeats the purpose for me. Using a UDT for ease of change but only need sections retained to not exceed retentive memory limit. Is there a way to choose what is retentive when its a UDT in a DB? Using V15.1 upd 3 with a 1518 plc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

An alternative is to copy to a single retentive DB all tags from within the UDTs. Then at startup, in OB100, copy the retained values to the proper UDT tags.
