Hi experts, I am looking for a solution for measure energy (A or Watts) in the individual socket of each heat pump, and control the on/off according of DEMS in the high level. This is part of a Smart City pilot Project.

I work in Siemens Chile, developing a complete solution for an utilities in Chile. If you have ideas you can contact me. The attached diagram show a simple scheme where the Home control must be communicate with the smart meter, via wireless or hardwire. 

The idea is  we can scale this solution in the future Smart cities.

Sounds like an interesting Project but energy-meters are nothing new and there are many solutions already around.

If you want to measure Energy (which is measured in Joule or more commonly in the energy Sector in kWh) don't try to reinvent the wheel. Because if your Load is not purely resistive, it's not enough to just measure Amps and Volts and multiplying them to get the Power.

So look at something like the MCP3905 for the measurment and only do the communications part yourself.
