Hello Aha; The basic interface between a PC and a S7-300 uses the MPI protocol (for a S7-315, for example). More recent S7-300 CPUs also have an integrated Profibus-DP port (S7-315-2DP). The latest models include an Ethernet/Profinet port (S7-315-2PN/DP). For a connection over MPI or Profibus, you would need a PC Adapter USB (6GK1571-0BA00-0AA0), USB to RS 485 (MPI/Profibus protocols) to establish a connection to your PC. If you have a S7-31x-2PN/DP, or an older CPU with a CP 343-1 Ethernet processor in the rack, you can use the PC's NIC and a standard Ethernet cable for connections. For S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs, the standard connection uses Profinet (Ethernet), so the solution is simple: your PC NIC and a standard Ethernet cable. In all cases, to configure to connection over MPI, Profibus-DP or Ethernet, you need to go through the PG/PC Interface, in your Step 7 software - How do you generally parameterize the PG/PC interface and how do you ensure that the device driver can be selected and is visible? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/11870489 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
