I am wondering is there a possibility to use s7 1200 cpu as master controller, and the to use interface module (IM) to open a new rack in electric cabinet? My idea is to use s7 1200 controller and signal cards as distributed I/O, the same as it is possibile with et200sp. I just don't want to use s7 1500 as a controller, instead I want to make the same configuration with sy 1200.

So, is it possibile?

yes this is possible.

You can use PROFINET and the PROFINET IM of the ET200 S/M/SP/MP Family.

So, I can use the following configuration:

CPU : 6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0

IM: 6ES7155-6AA00-0BN0

I/O: 6ES7135-6HD00-0BA1 + 6ES7193-6BP00-0DA0

       6ES7131-6BH00-0BA0 + 6ES7193-6BP00-0DA0

       ....

Have a look at the description if the IM 155-6 PN HF (you also have access to the technical data on a separate tab):

IM 155-6 PN HF

You will see that you are allowed up to 64 I/O modules on the rack, without limitations on the type of module. This limitation will become important only on very large networks, and will depend on the CPU caracteristics.
