Hello, Can S7-1200 read an incremental encoder ABZ- 12V DC signals ?! or it must be a 24V DC signals !!! if the answer is "no", can any other any SIEMENS PLC system read 12V DC encoder signals ?!! Thanks & regards. |

Hi there. I can only repeat what I read from the S7-1200 system manual. I would suggest you have a look there to confirm what follows. The minimum voltage required to register as an ON.. CPU................. 15Vdc SignalBoard........10Vdc The signal board in question is listed as [SB 1221 DI 4 x 24 VDC, 200 kHz]. There is also the same type signal board in 5Vdc variation [SB 1221 DI 4 x 5 VDC, 200 kHz]. With the 5Vdc version you could at least use a voltage divider to bring 12V to 5V level, but according to the specifications the 24Vdc version of the SB should be okay. Specifying a PLC to suit an encoder does however seem strange to me - but I am sure you have your reasons. Personally I go for an open collector type encoder - I use a pull-up resistor to make the voltage levels what I need it to be. I hope this is helpful. Good luck. Greteings. w |
