Dear, I plan to connect two CPUs 414-5H to redundancy for Tunel (the distance between the PLCs is about 4 km) and connect with 50 ET200s modules (of course they are not redundant) but are in the ring. The link between ET200S is an optic or PROFINET. One ET200s has about 10 4xDI cards, 3 4xDO relay and 3 2xAI card. Is this connection possible to the image? Hello FM_Merse1; There are 2 issues you should be considering at this point: - first, the maximum length of the synhronization cables for a S7-400H CPU is 10 km, see attachment below, nd the following manual: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/82478488 You should start a Support Request (see the link above) to request input from Siemens techs, and see if they have a suggestion on connecting for longer distances between H-CPUs. - second, the ET 200S system does not ptovide redundant connection to S7-400H cPus; you need to connect them between Y-Links. See this discussion for example: https://support.industry.siemens.com/tf/WW/en/posts/redundanncy-in-et-200s/17900?page=0&pageSize=10 So either you redesign your application with Y-links (with a max. of 31 stations behnd each Y-Link) or you switch to ET 200M stations. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

While I agree with Fafner that it is possible, allow me to add a word of caution to make sure the main disadvantage does not go unnoticed: ET200S do NOT support System redundancy. What this means is that they will belong to one of the H System CPU's (single sided I/O's) and if that CPU is down, so are its associated I/O Stations. I'd recommend you look at either using ET200M IM153-4 PN (a of FW4.0) or recently released ET200SP HA (either support System redundancy). |
