hi, to be more clear: Why do you want to make a RS485-connection? S7-1200 has an integrated PROFINET-interface. There is no need for RS485. Just put an Network-Cable between them and use the I-Device-functionality. SIMATIC S7 S7-1200 Programmable controller chapter 11.2.13 hope this helps, regards, |

Hi.
Do I understand correctly?.. you have 2 PLCs that need to link with each other because you have only 1 RS485 module and the 2 PLCs both need the information from the RS485 link. The built-in Profinet Ethernet port offers many connections for use to link PLCs with each other. Recently I had the following to this theme..
I prefer S7-communications (PUT/GET) for it is easy to use. I suggest to exchange data between DBs It is best if the data is in one block and in byte sized increments. For example if you have 3 bits to send... better to send full 8 bits and have the other 5 bits for future expansion. You have control over how regularly the data is exchanged - If you share some coding with us and explain what the difficulties is, then we might be able to help more. Photos of hand sketches are very welcome.. pictures speak better to ideas than text can. Greetings |
