Hello. Yes normally the cable you mention will be fine. Butyou need tocreate agood combination with the cableand the connectors. Since you have specifieda IE FastConnect Cable it's the best to use the IE FastConnect Plugs which are special designed to be used with this cable type. Below you see pictures from one of those connectors and the special Stripping Tool. The pinout will be no problem at all since the colors of the four wires are matching the colors on the connectors. You might need to think about using a small switch but this only necessary if your PC NIC doesn't support Auto Cross-Over. Otherwise you can always think about adding a switch with a small number of ports like the CSM377 which fits on a S7-300 Rail. And four wires is no problem since for 100 Mb/s only 4 wires are used. The best connector for the CPU will be a 145 degrees connectorwhich is a bit bended in a way that the cablecomesout of the PLC straight down. For the PC the best solution is mainly the 180 degrees connector which is straight (as in the picture). More information on the connectors: Chapter 2 from the IKPI 2007(Have a look at Page 29 and further) More information on the CSM377: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/27229889 About WinCC Flexible RT I will suggest you to use the version 2007 since I believe that the Softnet IE Lean is integrated in the software since that version. |

Hello, well.. these are a lot of questions to answer. I hope I catch all of them. First of all the cable questions. To answer the question about the number of wires we have to go deep into the Standard. If you have a 10 or 100 MBit based Ethernet the RJ45 connector uses 4 wires. This is due to the fact that you need to wires to send and two to receive. If you think about the 8 wires you talked about this is necessary for 1 GBit Ethernet, because there you have two times to wires to send and two times two wires to receive... this is the Standard. So what you need is 4 wires, so the standard cable is fully sufficient. If you want to connect two NICs (PC and PLC) directly you will have to cross the wires, you have to cross TX+ and TX- with RX+ and RX-... this is explained in the Manual SIMATIC NET Twisted-Pair and Fiber-Optic Networkssee Chapter 4.5 (I think) The Pinout of the there mentioned 9 Pin or 15 Pin Connectors is signal compatible with RJ45. To find the RJ45 Pinout check the internet... there are a lot of pages showing this. The Manual I mentioned also shows you that you can reach the 80 m you want, if you use a SIMATIC NET TP Cable. Well I hope I have catched all questions... Best regards J_Bell |
