G_H Posts: 54 Rating: (0)	I am trying to setup up an ethernet connection using a 317 2PN/DP to a PC, but i am unable to enter a connection, is there a working example anywhere of how to achieve this? TIA

It has a Connection wizard, with this wizard you can easily generate the blocks you need for the CPU. Generating the Connection Data for the open TCP/IP Communication using the Open Communication Wizard

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well... if you try to establish a TCP Connection and the partner is not responding to the SYNC you will never get the Connection established. You need a listener on the Port, no doubt. Best regards J_Bell

G_H Posts: 54 Rating: (0)	Hi J_Bell, I have a Bespoke comms program on the PC that has worked lots of times with Ethernet and CP343 cards, this is the first time I have tried with integrated PN. Would Hyper terminal work as a listener? Also the Siemens support talks about Microsoft .net, do I need this on the PC? TIA

G_H Posts: 54 Rating: (0)	OK i believe the problem is on the PC side, but can I post my wizard settings just to check the PLC side; 317 2PN/DP : 192.80.0.1 Standard PC running xp : 192.80.0.5 TCP native (not ISO on TCP or UDP?) Only com partner A to be configured Comm B is not S7 Partner A Connection ID 0001 Integrated 317 user interface Partner B 192.80.0.5 Partner A port 2000 Partner B port 2000 (this OK??) the rest is obvious and I understand how to generate the DB etc. TIA again!

To tell you the truth, the first time I tried the TCP/IP Communication with this interface I nearly went nuts and had to try a lot because it is not always logical. I would say what is needed to set up is: The local device Type, to get the right Type ID for the Connection... OK The remote IP Address, to know the remote Partner... OK The remote Port, to know where to talk to.... OK But please do not set a local Port! This is mostly the problem. the Active Part in this type of connection chooses the Port used by itself... even so this is really the PC behavior... but it works just this way. Please leave the local Port empty in your DB. I hope this will help you a bit. Best regards J_Bell
