"33:16944 Online: No other active Partner can be found" error when I try to go online

ronin237 Posts: 6 Rating: (2)	Hello All, I have been attempting to connect to the S7-416 PLC in our facility. I get "33:16944 Online: No other active Partner can be found" when I click the accessible nodes icon. I have read the previous posts and configured MPI interface to match the port that I am using. I am using a 6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0 PC adapter(V.5.1), a 6ES7901-1BF00-OXA0 RS232 Cable, and an RS232 to USB adpater. I know my predecessor has used this set up and connected to the machine. I have 2 USB ports on my PC and have tried them both. Also I am using Version 5.2 + SP1 Step7 software. The CPU is part of a Profibus network and is connected to another PLC (an S7-300 series) Help Please

ronin237 Posts: 6 Rating: (2)	Hi Fritz, I tried all of that and none of it seemed to work. I finally unplugged the network cable interface and hooked directly into the MPI port. Then I had no issues. I am curious why I couldn't connect through the interface port on that network cable.

To have an idea what could be wrong. You can also put the interface on Profibus "Auto" and let the PG detect the used Buadrate of the network. May be the CPU port is reconfigured for Profibus with a different speed.

ronin237 Posts: 6 Rating: (2)	Thank you All. It is the little things that trip us up, well me anyway. I was looking at the ProfiBus connector, and notice a small switch in the off position. I slid it to "on" and was able to connect my lap topthrough the pass through on that cable. Thank you for your help and patience.

uau Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I am facing the same problem on my CPU 412-1 I have a pro-face HMI connected to the CPU. First, I had EXTF & BUS1F LED's lit on the CPU. In order to clear that I restarted the PLC. The LED's are now gone. But I cannot go online to the PLC. The error says'No other active partner can be found' I have tried to carry put steps as suggested in: "33:16944 Online: No other active Partner can be found" error when I try to go online but in vain. Any suggestions please?

uau Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi Umencho I went online the same way as i did before. The red LED's were lit because I connected an external device on the MPI cable. I think the PLC thought it was a problem because that device was not configured on the network. So I restarted the PLC and the LED's are OK now. The problem is that I cannot go online to the PLC the way I used to. rgds
