Hello mef3000 you can definetely build anFO ring by replacing the end of line G11's with G12's and use the existing spare cores in your multicore FO cable to as the "ring return line". You will however notNOT gain all thatmuch by doing so, sinceacut in the Multicore FO cable will in this case lead to a lossof communication (rather than leading to a line structurewith no loss of communication). The only small advantage that you will gain is that loss of an individual OLM (e.g. power failure to it), would now only take out the stations connected to that OLM. My advise, if you need increased availability of your FO network, put in a new FO cable in a physically seperate cable tray to the original one. Last but not least, please pay heed to notes forRing Structures in the OLM manual too should you decide to use an OLMring as you will have to adjust the Profibus timings. I hope this helps |
