Is it possible?

This CPU can drive 5 axis in this mode?

What is the max number of axis the is possible drive with thi CPU?

After looking at the technical data of the S71214 DC/DC/DC, I think: Yes

Check the number of DOs you need. It may be necessary you have to  add a signal board (not a signal module)M) to get additional DOs.

Hi.

The hardware configuration can only handle x4 pulse train configurations.. even if the software side can handle more motion control axis.

If you want to control x5 motion control axis at one time (regardless if open loop or closed loop) - you will have a problem.

However if you have x2 axis that is not running at the same time - you will be able to do some software and hardware multiplexing to handle this. The motion control manual does explain this in some detail.

We had a similar problem. At end of the day we split the design over two CPUs and used on-board Profinet communications to link the two halves with each other.

Another alternative we looked at before splitting to x2 CPUs, was to use a "Positioner" Servo drive which is preprogrammed for positions that in turn is selected and controlled by digital I/O. This is especially a good idea where positioning is critical and requires a good closed loop.

the PTO axis are simultaneus only for a couple of motors.

Is a wire brushing machine. During the wire avancement,  first move a couple of motors for vertical brushing  and in second time move the other couple of motors for lateral brushing.

I think there are no problem with this movements.
