500-5051 5052 programming /scaling.

dhofstetter Posts: 5 Rating: (1)	I have several of these modules that I cannot seem to program properly. They appear to be in an over-range condition as the integer values are over 32767. The numbers on all channels when changing the module from Program to Run. Any tips or tricks with these would be a great help. Its been a while since I have seen one of these and I've never had this problem with them before. Any manuals for these out there..? Thanks.. Duane

It would be interesting to know what lead up to the point where all channels started reporting 32767. Were any changes made to the configuration? any hardware changes, a lightening strike?

I don't have the manuals for the 500 Thermocouple module. In the 505 Module, the value 32767 indicates a module failure. The troubleshouting section from the 505 T/C module suggests:
Table 4-2 Causes and Corrective Action for Faulty Operation

Symptom	Probable Cause	Corrective Action
MODULE GOOD indicator is off	Base or PLC is off	Turn base or PLC on.
	Software failure	Power cycle the module to attemptto clear the failure.
	Modul e not fully seatedin base	Re-install module in the base.
	Defective module	Replace module.
Incorrect readings	Wrong connections	Trace wiring to ensure it is wiredcorrectly.
	Noise on signal wire	Use shielded wire — check wirerouting.
	Not logged in properly forthe program	Perform AUX 43, or read the I/Oconfiguration
	Thermocouple or wiring failure	Check the thermocouple, extensionwire, and the connectors.
	Module out of calibration	Re-calibrate the module.
	Error word	Refer to Table 4-1 for problem andsuggested corrective action.
	Module configured wrong	Check dipswitch settings.

jack_russell Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello Duane, All the error codes for the two type of modules are above 32767 (so hex 8xxx). Itried to attach the scanned pages with the error codes for both modules, but the file is too large. Maybe I can send them by e-mail? Regards
