5TI-5500 TMR to S7 Timer

Tariq Advanced Member Joined: 7/28/2007 Last visit: 1/15/2023 Posts: 50 Rating: (1)	Dear All I am upgrading 25 year OLD 5TI-5500 PLC to Seimens step7. I have the hard copy of TI program and i am copying everything from there. I have problem in converting Timer instruction of TI to S7. The TMR instruction in TI has two inputs. 1stinput is for enabling/Reseting the TMR. (If this input is ON then TMR will be enable but timing will not Start. If its OFF then TMR will reset) 2nd input for activating the TMR.(If its ON then timing will start) If 1st input is ON and 2nd input is also ON the TMR will start its timing, but if suddenly 2nd input is OFF and 1st input is ON then TMR will stop timing but TMR will not reset. It will remain on current time & starts timing again if 2nd input is ON. It will reset only if 1st input is OFF.... Now in S7, we have timer with only one input. Can anybody give me idea of how to use Timer in S7 like that i have in TI. Waiting for your reply. Regards tariq

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 6/4/2023 Posts: 12033 Rating: (2595)	Hello Tariq; The closest you will fing to the TI familyTMR instruction in Step 7 is FC80, "TONR" (timer retentive) in the TI-S7 converting blocks library. You will find your 2 inputs Start/Stop and Enable/Reset, however you will need to adapt it(using the other inputs) to the S7 variable cycle philosophy. The online help should help. However, I have found an application that creates a generic retentive timer (2 control signals, Start and Reset) that you could use to roll your own TON and TOF, with a minimum of ingenuity.
