I've to install,

ET200S, IM151-8 PN/DP CPU, 192 KB

I want to know if there is a maximal distance between:
=>IM151PN/DP CPU and the ethernet switch
=>an AI card (2wire or 4wire) and the instrument

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	For AI-cards there are limits of cable length to transmitter to ensure signal quality. Some manuals specify a certain distance. You have to consider: -total loop resistance -disturbances from other devices (el. magnets, transformers, motors...) -disturbances from other cable (power or high voltage) -disturbances from diffences in earthing potential -disturbances from radios close to the devices In general a voltage signal is more sensitive than a current signal (0/4..20mA). In critical application you can try to use a HART transmitter and use the digital value.
