MrBean87 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody! I have a problem, which solution will be probably very obvious for most of you. I am using a S7-1200, connected a 6FX20015QN25 via Profinet. The connection is stabel an no errors occure. Because of the simplicity of my application, i just want do read out the position of the encoder, and my limited knowledge, i want to use Telegram 860. In the device overview, the E-Adress for the Telegram 860 is 1...4, over which i think i should be able to read the position of the encoder. But i do not understand how i find out the address, which i have to use for the for the PLC variable. Usually, for the I/O of the S7-1200, the adresses are for example I0.0, I0.1... I0.7, I1.1 ect. So what is the address of the encoder? I tried to find out how the addressing for Profinet devices works, but i could not find the right manual, or i do no know for whar keyword i have to search for. It would be really kind, if anyone could push me in the right direction, with a suggestion or a small example. Thank you very mouch MrBean87

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 3/21/2025 Posts: 22596 Rating: (3056)	Hi, the encoder value is in the first 2 Words of the telegram. So use the adress %ID1 (PLCTag Datatype = DoubleWord) in the PLC to access the Encoder value. Regards Christoph

So if i understand it correct, the addressing is like this: Inputs:The addressing for Bool starts form I0.0 The addressing for DoubleWord %ID1, where I stands for Input, D the datatype Doubleword. So if i would have a input for example in datatype Word, the address would be %IW1, %IW2 ect? Thank you for your help
