840d sl set zero position

DEONSKOK Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	On a Peddinghaus angle line with a Siemens 840 D SL control , I need to align the Z axis to a certain point on the machine and then set that position as the reference position for this axis. Can someone please tell me which md parameter to set to accomplish this. Regards Deon

If you do not understand ,please let me know and I willrephrase my question , unfortunatly I can only speak English and Afrikaans , unfortunatly no German. Please Advise Regards Deon

alexmac_uk Posts: 118 Rating: (1)	Hi, more than likely it is an absolute encoder then if there are no limit switches. I use MD setting 34210 which will be set on 2, i set the position of the axis in the MD setting 34100 i think, i.e if you want Z axis set at 100mm then you write the value in there and enter. Then ensure your in reference mode on the controller and the Z axis is pressed, change MD 34210 to 1 and press enter then press + and reset and the 1 should change back to a 2 and the new reference position set.
