List Posts: 664 Rating: (17)	Hai all, Mostly i am troubleshooting and recommissionig the 840D system... I have a doubt regarding windows mode of operation.. While i am entering into the windows mode,i am putting my Pendrive and open it.. Maybe virus is present in the pendrive.. Is it effect for the normal operation of SIEMENS HMI software/Custom screens ??? Is there is any Chance for currupting any system executable files??? Is there is any inbuilt Protection in Harddrive for resist viruses??? I have great pleasure to know about these things, Please help Anyone....... Thanks & Regards, Raj

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (484)	Hello.... What is the hardware are you using ?? pcu20 / pcu50.... PCU50 have Harddisk and the platfrom is WINXP.... PCU20 deosn't have any kind of HDD and the software is embedded inside the hardware itself. Ofcourse it is with Microsoft....siemens software are used with this technologies... Where ever you have harddisk you need to install antivirus....When you use your USB storage devices you need to scan your pen drive/ USB HDD when you put it in machine equipped with PCU50... Yes virus can enter if you don't scan it and...ensure you if you install the antivirus...make habit of updaing it regularly basis....then you can aviod it. check this note regarding the PCU50.3 http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/37110053 Hope it is clear...
