Hi, I See... If you read Manual SIMATIC NET IE/AS-INTERFACE LINK PN IO under chapater "7.2.1 Addressing AS-i Slaves" you can read: "Access when the GSDML file or STEP 7 is used for configuration (unpacked) If you configure with the GSDML file or use STEP 7 to configure, access to the digital data without “packing” is byte-oriented. One byte is assigned to every AS-i digital slave..." So you basically waste 4 bits in each bytes. What you can do is Pack the addresses, that is actually assign the higher 4 bits for each byte for the next slave. Packing addresses is the same story as with the ET200s modules. See this link to see how to do it: I hope I could help. |

Hi MicroMan, Thanks for the information, however the Manual only mentions Step 7, I am using TIA Portal. I did take note of the following section just under where you refered me to: "Access when you configure with STEP 7 (packed digital data) If you selected the “Pack” function in the properties dialog of the AS-i line proxy in STEP 7, the digital I/O data of all AS-i slaves will be transferred tightly packed in the data field of the line proxy. The bit address of the AS-i bits is calculated and displayed by STEP 7. If a configured AS-i slave fails during runtime, this is signaled to the user program as a remove module alarm via the diagnostic address assigned to the slave. When accessing the digital bits of the AS-i slave, there is, however, no I/O error."
As the above passage suggests, I have looked at the 'Configuration AS-i proxy' for the AS-i lines under 'Module parameters'. The only settings that come up are 'Diagnostic interrupt' and 'Address programming'. I have tried playing with the 'Address programming' setting and it seems to make no difference.
I have looked into the packing of addresses in a similar manner to the ET200S modules. See attachment. Unfortunately this doesn't work with the IE/AS-i LINK. Cheers, Steve Attachmentforum screen shots2.docx (187 Downloads) |
