a problem about S7 317-2dp with 512kb MMC

CPU->6ES7317-2AJ10.0AB0 v2.1.3 MMC->6ES7953-8LJ20-0AA0 (1)Iplugged the 128kb mmc card in CPU317-2dp,it runs ok. (2)I plugged the 512kb mmc card in CPU317-2dp,the stop led of the cpu always flash (3)I Put the switch to Res, until the flashing differs (can last 10 seconds) then release switch and put it back to Res within 3 seconds. Hold it for more than 5 seconds. the stop led of the cpu always flash (4)I format it in PC then plug in CPU,do overall reset,the same situation. (5)change other new 512k mmc,the same situation. what do I watch out this? Hello BazzLightYear, The Simatic MMC(MicroMemoryCard) has a special stucture stored in the flash memory. The structure is generated in the factory. When you format the MMC with windows (like any MultiMediaCard) this structure is destroyed. You can't use the card for SIMATIC any more. You can not bring back this stucture (official statement from Siemens). You have two possibilities: - use the card as a expensive MMC in you MP3 Player or photo - talk to your local Siemens partner and ask him to replace the MMC with a new one.

Ates Posts: 198 Rating: (17)	Actually there were some image writer prgrams for simatic mmc cards, so i am not sure coz i never tried, but i think if you have got simatic mmc card you can write old image on that card.. if you want to try it pm me.. i never tried it but you can, at the moment you ve nothing to loose :)

Do a raw copy of a new MMC from, let me say dd in linux, (yes the MMC must be plugged in a kinda of MMC reader let's say USB), they write it back in the not working one. Never format it with windows standard tools. It's funny that for a 64kb MMC you obtain some MB of file, it means that inside the MMC there is algo a kinda of OS, the S7 interpreter. HTH Massimo
