I have  a food refrigiration system contains 60DI,60 DO,8AI (compressors,valves,fans). Does s71200 reliable to control this operation with minimum malfunction possibilities?

for sure S7 300 is more powerful depend the complexity of your program, what do you mean by malfunction? Hardware,sofware....

I mean both hardware and software. the program is large, the  refrigeration process  is close to a factory automation and it contains poisonous gas.

for the software you have to be the one to do it right and if you try to do it in TIA Portal now it seems quite stable, for the hardware remember that it is Siemens (good product).

I would like to add some considerations to Stefano's good advice.

Well before the software is designed, and the hardware platform is chosen, you have to take the time to design the process parameters; for example:

- you are handling poisonous gases, is there any requirement for ESD (emergency shutdown), and how do you plan on installing it?.

- is this a process that needs to be supervised under all circumstances, even a single controller failure: do you need the controller to be redundant?

- in case of fault or error of the control system, do you need to bring the equipment to a safe state: is a fail-safe system to be implemented?

-how many closed-loop controls must you implement, and how fast must they react?

- will you be interfacing with other controllers on the plant floor, and what networks must you support to do that?

There are many other questions you must review before you start doing the actual programming on this system.

• How many regulatory control loops (such as PID) do you plan for the project? (counting inner and outer loop separately)
  
  
• What should the update-rate / reaction-times of each of those loops be?
  
  
• How many digital IO is ms time critical for their state calculation and update switching?
  
  
• Which safety ratings and environment ratings should be adhered to?
  
  
• Should all control be from one central controller?
  
  
• Once-of project or project range or updating existing product line?

The S7-1200 might work for the application.
The S7-1500 has a very high possibility of working.
The S7-300 has much to choose from in the range.

Design in TIA Portal gives the opportunity to re-use the design for future update or "spin-off" modules.
