Our pc is used for HMI, it has PCES5 card(hardware), PCLINK(software), and H1Server(DDE Server), Intouch v5.6(DDE Client), and the OS is WIN98.
And I want to replace PCES5 card to normal NIC, and keep the Intouch running well.
After reading your link, is it meaning that I need the OPC server to build Industrial Ethernet and also replace the PCLINK??
But does the OPC server support the DDE Function to let Intouch used??

Well, let's start one by one:

1. You buy new PC with simple ethernet card.

2. You need to order SimaticNet with license, but version tha support win98. This maybe will be a problem.

3. Build connection PC (simple ehernet card to CP1430).

4. Now you must connect OPC Server (PC) with Wonderware Intouch. Use OPCLink to connect Intouch with OPC Simatic Net Server. How look there: Configuring OPCLink Using TCP/IP and a Standard Network Card for Windows NT 4.0 to Access S7-400 PLCs via the Siemens S7 OPC Server
