absolute measuring system 840D

MLAZZ Posts: 62 Rating: (5)	Hello all Im making a retrofit of one machine. This machine has a 840C CNC and it will be reemplace by a 840D CNC. I need reemplace a old incremental measuring system LS186 Heidenhain by absolute measuring system LC183 Heidenhain. This rules have the same characteristics but the LC183C is absolute. The idea is reemplace all motors by motors with absolute encoder and in thisaxe withlinear motor with incremental measuring system reemplacethe rule. The LC183 measuring system have a ENDAT type 2 interface. Is this type "Endat2" compatible with theCNC 840D?

Here an extract: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Measuring systems with EnDat 2.2 and EnDat 2.1 - compatibility(ID: 22731584) The EnDat interface is the bidirectional interface for measuring systems from Heidenhain. EnDat 2.1 is the standard in recent years and allows absolute position values to be transferred. In addition to the digital position values, analog incremental signals are transferred with 1Vpp. These are interpolated in the drive converter for fine resolution. EnDat 2.2 is supplied by Heidenhein as a compatible replacement for EnDat 2.1. In general, Siemens drive converters (SINAMICS, SIMODRIVE, MASTERDRIVES) EnDat 2.2 support the functional scope of EnDat 2.1. Update: With SIMODRIVE, only the "direct measuring system" mode was supported for linear measuring systems. In the meantime, we have released the following software versions that allow you to operate linear scales with EnDat 2.2 also as a motor measuring system: SIMODRIVE 611 U: Software release 09.02.04 or later SIMODRIVE 611 D: Software release 06.08.13 or later; also included in NCK releases NCK 6.5.36 and 7.4.09 The new EnDat 2.2 feature, i.e. to allow the pure digital transfer of high-resolution position values that have been interpolated already in the encoder, is not supported by SIEMENS drive converters. This is not intended for the future either. The fully digital interface for the connection of measuring systems to SINAMICS is DRIVE-CLiQ. Over the medium term, Heidenhain will replace the EnDat 2.1-based measuring systems with EnDat 2.2-based measuring systems. In order to guarantee operation with Siemens drive converters, it will be necessary to use the EnDat 2.2 version with incremental signals. This must be identified in the order designation of measuring systems with EnDat 02, refer to the table in the attachment. More detailed information can be taken from the attached excerpt from the following document "Rotary encoders, Status 11/2005" from the Heidenhain company. ------------------------------------ Risk of uncontrolled axis motion with linear scales LC 183/LC483 connected to SIMODRIVE 611D/U and SINUMERIK 840D/840C//810D/802D/FM-NC(ID: 27005499) After connecting the LC x83 as motor measuring system to software releases that are older than the releases mentioned below, immediately after the control has booted, it is possible that sporadically uncontrolled axis motion occurs. For old software releases, the higher resolution of the LC x83 measuring systems - that are not 100% compatible to the previous series - can result in inadmissible pole positions during the starting phase and in turn to sporadic, uncontrolled axis motion. Software involved: All software releases older than: NCK 6.5.36 with drive release 6.8.14 NCK 7.4.8 with drive release 6.8.14 SIMODRIVE 611U SW 11.01 It is absolutely forbidden to combine the above mentioned linear measuring scales with software releases older than those mentioned. The reason for this is that dangerous operating behavior may occur! Experienced Member Joined: 7/13/2008 Last visit: 9/20/2024 Posts: 107 Rating: (9)	I have the scenario where the customer has already changed the lc181 endat 2.1 with lc183 endat 2.2 Of course after changing the grid distance to .02 mm, the machine is moving inch for inch. Since this axis has 1ft6 servo, and not a linear motor, there is no runaway condition, however upon nck reset, the referenced machine coordinate value appears incorrect. IE, if I reference the machine in a known location say -62.0000 inches and leave it there. I can nck reset and the value is correct. If I move the axis to -52.0000 inches, and do an nck reset, the returned mcs value is unusual, say -112.1256 inches Two questions: Do the 6sn1118 0dg23 .... Controller card softwares support this encoder protocol version? I have tried nck 6.5.36 and 6.5.55 with the same behavior. If I change to a 6sn1118 0dj23 .... Controller card, it will use a different firmware. Will this one work proper? At what software release are mixed generation controller cards possible (0dg23 and 0dj23 in the same configuration.) I think this is possible somewhere in 7.4.? I have submitted a hotline case, but suspect this could be seen by someone who has had the same experience already. If so, please let me know.
